In the design of a masonry retaining wall, the 

vartical load should fall within the middle-third of base width

horizontal thrust should act at h/3 from base

resultant load should fall within a distance of one- sixth of base width on either side of its mid point 

resultant load should fall within a distance of one-eight of base width on either side of ots mid point
